Rebecca Newnham Epiphany - Tidy Sharyn’s Shed Series
The Epiphany series are enamelled glass sketches, edged with copper.
The sketches are colourful abstracts inspired by aspects of an experience.
The series reuses glass from shed windows or a greenhouse or a front door, so has had all kinds of experience reflected in the surface. The glass shown here is all from a family garden shed, previously a summer house, in the New Forest. The colour sketches are about stories Rebecca has heard of the family, like their bees swarming or a black bird building a nest and laying eggs inside the shed. These sketches are like memories or dreams once reflected in the glass of the windows, a moment captured or reimagined.
Rebecca paints with glass enamels, a practice she started when first at art college and which has developed in many different directions in her work since.
This collection of sketches started during weekly Sculptors Drawing Space which is a shared platform where creatives share quiet drawing time on, initiated and presided over by Mark Richards a fellow Royal Society of Sculptors, where each draws independently and share an audio, so listening to others mark marking.
