Standing as on of the last remaining examples of London's once vast floodplain grasslands, Walthamstow Marsh is a small area of wetland, which is nestled between Hackney and Waltham Forest. From Saxon times until the mid 20th century, these marshlands were used by the locals to graze livestock and cut hay. Since the mid 1980s, these marshlands have been designated as a nature reserve. Marshlands I and it's companion piece Marshlands II, draws inspiration from the history of the site and it's current flora and fauna.

This woven piece has silver, as well as cotton, paper-yarn and hemp. It is an exquisite wall hanging, fine yet well formed to hang on a wall.
