Soar, 2010

Soar sculptures were inspired by birds enjoying the salt marsh at Stanpit Marsh at Hengistbury Head and relate to birds and their symmetrical reflection in the water as they take off. The moment of elevation is when refined form and significant energy combine to create lift. They are cast in Jesmonite and have crushed recycled waste glass, in place of aggregate. The glass sparkles lightly, especially when they rock in response to touch. One cast is in bronze, with a recently reworked patina.
