Lie of the Land
Jane Ponsford
Part of a body of work which looks at the concept of Infinity, last shown in 2017, in London. It represents the forms that Jane returns to frequently, they are fundamental to her work.
"Unlike some of my pieces they are uncoloured or monochrome which allows the forms of the cast paper to speak clearly. They were chosen because of their austerity and formality. The theme that links them is repetition, collecting similar marks or forms that together speak about the time taken and the gestures used to make the work. The cotton rag paper is handmade by me and the forms shaped using the pressure of my hands and body to be ‘drawing in the most complicated way possible’."
