This pieces is part of a collection of woven hangings entitled ‘Dream of a common language’. Made with silk yarn, space dyed with the dots and dashes of morse code spelling out lines of poetry or song lyrics.

Time, much like reality is mutable and can be seen from different perspectives. In this textile work, each individual can create their own version of time and what it means to them.

‘If I could tell you’ is a poem by W H Auden and dyed into the yarn are the first few lines.

“Time will tell you nothing but I told you so,
Time only knows the price we have to pay,
If I could tell you I would let you know”
